Soccer: Lady Cyclones earn top seed with 5-1 conquest of Jr. Bucs
By Allen LaMountain
In a rescheduled match from Tuesday, the Elizabethton Lady Cyclones achieved their objective with a 5-1 victory over University High on Wednesday night at Brown-Childress Stadium.
Needing to win by four goals to beat out Sullivan South — for the tournament’s top seed — on point differential, EHS met that goal with a pressing attack and a three-goal hat trick from senior Sarah Robinson.
“Basically we came on the attack pretty quickly and had them flat on their feet,” said senior backline defender Abbi Carey, who had a pair of big assists. “I was able to get Sarah the ball a couple times and let her work her magic. We had to match their aggressive style and it got a little violent toward the end. It turned when Lexi got taken out down at this end.”
