COSBY—Cosby entered Friday night’s Region 1-A matchup on the wave of a two-game winning streak, both in Region 1-A competition. What the Eagles exited Friday night with was a damper from the rain, and the Hampton Bulldogs.
Hampton defeated the Eagles 47-0 to keep themselves in the hunt for a regional championship, with all roads leading to a showdown with Cloudland later in the season.
For Cosby (2-2, 2-5), the loss was its first since the heart-breaker against Chuckey-Doak nearly one month ago, and second time they’ve been shut out this season. It was also a bit of a setback for a defense that looked as if it finally found its identity after a strong showing the week prior against South Greene.
