All manner of ghouls and goblins invaded downtown Friday, but fear not because there were plenty of superheroes — and even an angel — on hand to defend the good people of Elizabethton.
Hundreds of children, along with parents and even some family pets, turned out to take part in the Downtown Business Association’s annual Trick-Or-Treat event. Many of the downtown businesses passed out candy and other goodies to princesses, heroes, villains and an assortment of other characters.
Crowds gathered early for the event as the weather was forecast to turn bad as rain and colder temperatures moved into town. Though the weather was cold, it did not seem to dampen spirits or the children’s excitement. Many trick-or-treaters were still making their way through downtown around 5 p.m.
