A Hampton man is facing charges after an incident Sunday that left a woman in serious condition at a local hospital.
The Carter County Sheriff’s Department arrested Ernest Kevin Trivette, 56, on warrants charging him with aggravated assault.
The charges against Trivette stem from an alleged domestic disturbance Sunday night at a home in the Mountain View Drive area of Hampton. When officers arrived at the home, they found a woman with severe injuries to her head, face, arms and hands, CCSD Sgt. Mike Carlock said.
Witnesses reported hearing “strange noises” coming from inside the home and saw Trivette leave the scene, Carlock said.
“Due to the severity of the injuries, the Carter County Rescue Squad transported the victim to the Johnson City Medical Center,” Carlock said.
Officers searched for Trivette, who was found Monday afternoon. Trivette is being held in the Carter County Detention Center on a $40,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in General Sessions Court Dec. 9.
At press time, the victim was in serious condition in JCMC’s intensive care unit.
