Substitute teacher charged with sex assault on student

A substitute teacher at a county high school has been arrested on multiple charges after an investigation into a report he sexually assaulted a student at the school Friday.
Joshua Michael Fair, 24, was arrested Friday by officers of the Carter County Sheriff’s Department and charged with sexual assault by an authority figure, possession of Schedule II drugs and possession of weapons on school property.
An investigation began Friday when CCSD Deputy David Munsey, the School Resource Officer at Unaka High School heard about the alleged assault.
According to a statement released by the sheriff’s department, while Fair was being searched as part of his arrest, officers found a small quantity of Schedule II drugs and two knives, leading to additional charges against Fair.
The investigation into the alleged assault is ongoing at this time.
