After taking an early lead, the Hampton Bulldogs were able to vanquish the Sullivan South Rebles 62-51 to move on to the second round of the Hardee’s Classic Monday night inside David Crockett High School.

“We got after it early and got an early lead there,” Hampton head coach Ned Smith said. “Especially in the first quarter, we moved the ball around real well.”

The ’Dogs (4-1) were carried along by a 21-point performance from Stanley Valentine, who also nabbed seven rebounds.
