When brand new wrestler Bryce Richardson held his own against Happy Valley’s Carson Whitehead and didn’t get pinned at 152, it fueled a loud Elizabethton High School student body. It also fueled the Cyclones’ Mookie Madison at 160 to do something special and pretty much clinch a win over cross town rival Happy Valley.
Not only did Madison do something great, he did it with a thunderous stump and had Treadway Gym in a frenzy.
Madison, who grew up in Johnson City and transferred to EHS a couple of years ago, had a quick first-period pin that led to a 42-33 EHS victory over the Warriors in front of his friends and classmates at EHS.
