After coming out of the first quarter ahead 20-5, the Lady Cyclones did not let up as they defeated the Sullivan East Patriots 74-40.
EHS was spearheaded by a 23-point performance by Kelci Marosites. Her sister, Kayla, also had a double-digit performance as she put up 17 points.
“We played really well,” Lady Cyclones head coach, Len Dugger said. “We came out focused and played hard. We were very intense defensively. Our press caused some problems for them. We shot the ball really well. Pretty much through out the game to be honest. Kayla and Kelci had a good night of scoring, but we had other people contribute.”
“Melenda Perry, defensively, did a good job. Haley Burleson played well and got some high points for us. Everybody that we played, played will well.”
EHS’ Sarah Robinson was just two points shy of a double-double as she scored eight points for the night, while snatching 10 rebounds.
“Sarah Robinson played well,” Dugger said. “She rebounded the ball well. And she kept the ball alive for us on several different occasions.”
The high point of the night came in the first quarter when Kayla Marosite was recognized for hitting the 1000th point mark of her career.
“We talked about all the great things she has done,” Dugger said. ” She is very fortunate to play with the teammates that she has.”
