After a close fought game, the Lady Warriors were able to slide by with a 50-44 victory against the Lady Highlanders Monday night inside of Cloudland High School.
Leading the way for Happy Valley was Kalee Johnson, who put up 21 points against the Highlanders. She was followed up by Jenna Eaton who brought in 10 points.
“That (Kalee) Johnson girl really hurt us. She is a really good player,” Cloudland head coach, Matt Birchfield said. “We did a good job in the first on her, but in the second half she hurt us.”
On Cloundland’s side of the ball, sophomore DonRae Taylor led as she brought in 12 points. Her teammate Kendal Mull trailed behind her with 10. Johanna Johnson was just shy of a double-digit performance with nine points.
Cloudland’s Payton Johnson boarded well for the Lady Highlanders as she brought down seven rebounds. She was helped out by Mull who had six.
“I felt like it was a good game,” Birchfield said. “We had some stretches that we turned the ball over that hurt us. Effort was good. You know, we had some late turnovers that hurt us.”
