TCAT grad rate 90 percent, hire rate 88 percent

Students attending the Tennessee College of Applied Technology had a 90 percent program completion rate, 88 percent job placement rate and 92 percent licensure pass rate on the Tennessee Board of Nursing for the 12-month period ending Aug. 31, according to data released Monday to the Council of the Commission on Occupational Education, TCAT’s accrediting agency.
Welding led all programs with 100 percent completion and placement.
“Training programs at TCAT Elizabethton are designed to equip students with the knowledge and skill sets necessary for them to be successful in the work place. Obviously, we are pleased with the desired outcome to prepare graduates for employment in their chosen field of study,” Director Dean Blevins said.
By program, completion and placement rates were as follows:
t Automotive Technology — 100 percent, 96 percent;
t Administrative Office Technology — 90 percent, 93 percent;
t Computer Information Technology — 93 percent, 90 percent;
t Diesel Powered equipment Technology — 92 percent, 91 percent;
t Dietary Manager (online) — 74 percent, 85 percent;
t Electricity-Electronics — 81 percent, 70 percent;
t HVAC/Refrigeration — 91 percent, 71 percent;
t Millwright/Industrial Maintenance — 100 percent, 77 percent;
t Pipefitting & Plumbing – 91 percent, 100 percent;
t Practical Nursing — 74 percent, 95 percent, 92 percent licensure pass rate; and
t Welding — 100 percent, 100 percent.
