Sullivan East golf puts an end to Hampton’s win streak

The Hampton Lady Bulldogs’ win streak finally came to an end Tuesday at the Tri-Cities Golf Course.

The Lady ’Dogs fell to the Sullivan East Lady Patriots, who bested Hampton by five strokes.

The Lady Pats were led by Holly Hamilton, who won in individual play with a score of 39. The East girls finished the match with 89.

“Holly Hamilton played really well,” Hampton coach Wayne Ellis said. “The two teams were pretty evenly matched.”

Hampton’s Savana Weddle finished the match with 46, while teammate Hanah Brumitt closed things out with 48, givimg the Lady Bulldogs 94.

The last time the Lady Pats and the Lady Bulldogs met, Hampton was able to come home with a win.

On the boys’ side, the Bulldogs took third place with a team score of 184, while Virginia High took first and Sullivan East boys took second.

The Hampton golf teams will take the course again Sept. 17 at Pine Oaks Golf Course, where they will face off with University High.
