Sewer line work reroutes school traffic in West Side

This week, the City of Elizabethton began work on a sewer project that will affect traffic around a city elementary school.
On Tuesday, the City of Elizabethton closed Burgie Street from Williams Avenue to Dakota Avenue. The closure is expected to last for approximately two months as crews work to install new sewer lines in the area.
The closure of that portion of Burgie Street required a new plan for traffic for the morning drop off and afternoon pickup at West Side Elementary School.
New front of school route: enter from Williams Ave. onto Happy Valley Street and turn left onto Dakota Avenue to Burgie Street.
New back (gym side) of school route: continue to come in on Donna Avenue and turn onto Happy Valley Street. After you pick your child up, please turn left into the parking lot entrance of West Side Christian Church to exit. There should be a detour sign. This will keep the Happy Valley/Dakota intersection from being congested.
