Freshman Sarah Robinson had a double-double by the 1:57-mark of the first half and 15 members of the Milligan College women’s basketball team entered the scoring column as the Buffaloes made swift and easy work of visiting Warren Wilson College, 86-62, Wednesday evening at Steve Lacy Fieldhouse.

Robinson had 19 points and 14 rebounds in under 17 minutes of playing time, helping keep Milligan perfect at 3-0 and dealing the first loss of the season to the Owls (2-1). Both figures were career highs for the freshman from Elizabethton, and it marked the second double-double of her three-game career. She was 7-of-11 from the floor and added an assist, two blocks and two steals.

Allison Jones and Hayley Wyrick, Milligan’s recent 1,000-point scorers, joined Robinson in double figures with 12 and 11, respectively. This was the third straight game Jones and Wyrick reached double digits in scoring.

Wyrick had the opening basket on Milligan’s third possession, and the Buffs never looked back. They scored the first seven points of the game as part of a 21-6 run to start the game. The double-digit trio accounted for 17 of those first 21 points, with a basket byCourtney Wilson and free throws by Morgan Gose capping the run off.

Only briefly did the lead drop below double digits after that point, and Milligan went out by as many as 18 in the second quarter and 34 in the third quarter. A buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Megan Pietrowski to end the first half put a finishing touch on Milligan’s 11-3 run to end the first 20 minutes. Robinson had 13 of her points and 10 of her rebounds at that point.

Wyrick added five rebounds and two assists to her 11 points while Jones had three rebounds and two steals. Lindsee Price earned five assists with only one turnover, and Callie Cox had five steals.

Of the 15 Buffs to score, three finished with six points, includingCassidy Anderson who connected on two second-half triples, Andi Lamb who had two assists and a steal, and Courtney Wilson who had an assist and a steal.

For Warren Wilson, Danasia Dumas earned a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Jada McCrimmon scored 16 points off the bench. Milligan forced the Owls into 20 turnovers and a shooting percentage of 33.8 (23-68).

Next up, Milligan plays an exhibition game at NCAA Division I East Tennessee State University. Game time is set for 2 p.m. onSaturday, Nov. 7, at Brooks Gym in Johnson City. The Buffs will then resume regular-season competition next Tuesday, Nov. 10, by traveling to Midway College at 6 p.m. and beginning Milligan’s first multigame road trip of the season.
