Happy Valley gets past Lee High, Elizabethton falls to Morristown East

Led by a 17-point game from Austin Hicks, the Happy Valley Warriors defeated Lee High School 54-42 Friday night in Virginia.
In the first period, the Warriors (7-3, 1-1) out scored Lee High 20-10, with Josh Hammonds picking up seven points and Hicks providing eight.
The Warriors used their first-quarter drive to cushion themselves through out the rest of the game.
Hammonds closed out the game with 11, while Tyler Torbett picked up 10. Nathan Kyte finished the evening with nine.
Morristown West 53,
Elizabethton 51 (Boys)
It was a fight to the finish as the Cyclones dropped their game at Morristown West High School 53-51.
Heading into halftime, West held a 28-26 lead over the Cyclones (4-6, 2-0) — with West out scoring EHS 14-13 in both the first and second periods.
Coming into the final frame Morristown West led 39-34, before holding on in the fourth frame while being outpaced 14-9 by the Cyclones. Bo Pless led the Cyclones with 16, while Michael Robinson recorded 10 points and two treys.
