Has flying the family to Disney World or to the Semi-finals and Championship NCAA Final Four games been on your wish list? On January 16, you could win these and a number of other big ticket items at the Elizabethton High School Dugout Club’s chili dinner and auction.
Admission is $5 and includes dinner, live music and both a live and silent auction at the EHS Commons area. The event will being at 5 p.m.
Some items available in the auctions will be 2016 NCAA Final Four tickets and airfare to the Semi-Finals Game and the Championship game with hotel for two, tickets to a MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL or PGA event and accommodations and airfare for two for a two night stay, a new $300 Polaris cooler, a signed guitar from The Band Perry, four rounds of golf at the famous Old Tabby Links in Hilton Head, Bristol Motor Speedway tickets, pontoon boat rental and more. In total, giveaway items currently value more than $20,000, and the club is still accepting quality donations.
Head Coach Ryan Presnell said it is hard to believe they have so many high quality auction items already and that any local certificates, items or trips would help them to raise the funds they need.
“It’s imperative that people come support the team,” said Presnell. “It’s a great town and people always jump behind these kind of events for our kids.”
Beyond basic operating expenses, the team’s finances are provided through fundraising by the parent-led Dugout Club.
When Presnell came on as Head Coach about a year ago, he said that based on advice from other successful coaches, he wanted to kickstart fundraising in order to outfit the team and cover expenses of travel.
This is the first fundraiser of its kind to cover the cost of equipment — like cleats, socks, belts, shirts and cold weather gear — as well as the cost of travel to North and South Carolina for games this Spring. Practice will begin February 15 with the first game of the season taking place March 15.
