Betty Jean Campbell Powell

Betty Jean Campbell Powell, 82, of Elizabethton, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016, in the ER at Sycamore Shoals Hospital.
A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Fina Simerly Campbell.
Betty was a graduate of Elizabethton High School and was retired from American Air Filter. She was a member of East Side Christian Church.
Betty loved to read and watch her grandchildren in their sports activities.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Merrill Vines and Barbara Sorah.
Survivors include her husband, Dave Powell; a son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Paul Powell, Elizabethton; two grandsons, David and Dustin Powell; three great-grandchildren, Hallie, Raven and Brayden; several nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Shirley Jeffers, Karen Dugger and Bob Williams.
Funeral services for Betty Jean Campbell Powell will be conducted at 6 p.m. Friday, February 5, at Memorial Funeral Chapel with Mr. Randle Johnson, minister, officiating. The graveside service and interment will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 6, at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. The family would like to express a special “Thank You” to the staff of Life Care Center and the staff of the ER at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at her residence.
