The Bulldogs closed out the regular season with a win inside Unicoi County High School Monday night.

Behind three double-digit performances by Coby Jones, Chris Holtsclaw, and Wyatt Lyons, the Bulldogs rolled out to a 59-48 win over the Blue Devils.

Jones led the game with 16 points, while Holtsclaw did damage from outside with three treys and two buckets for 13 points. Lyons closed things out with 10 points.

After one, the Bulldogs led 15-13. Holtsclaw knocked down a bucket and a trey in the period, while his teammates Adam McClain and Nathan both made 3-pointers. Jose Velazquez chipped in a bucket also.

Things slowed down for both teams in the second period as Unicoi out scored Hampton 7-6. Hampton took a small 21-20 lead into the half.

The Bulldogs picked up the pace in the third, out scoring the Blue Devils 16-11. The period saw both Jones and Holtsclaw record five points each, while Lyons picked up six. Unicoi’s top outside shooter Trevor Hensley had two 3-pointers in the period. The teams headed into the fourth with Hampton leading 37-31.

In the final frame, Hampton sped away from Unicoi. Jones picked up nine points in the quarter as he went 5 of 7 from the foul line while making two buckets. Jones scored 14 of 16 points in the second half.

The Bulldogs ended the regular season with a 22-6 overall record after picking up their 13th-straight win Monday. The Bulldogs are also ranked ninth in Class AA ball.

Unicoi 46, Hampton 42 (Girls)

After the taking a 27-16 lead into the half, the Lady Bulldogs could not survive the Lady Blue Devils second-half push.

Led by Hannah Rice’ 21 points, Unicoi slipped out to a 46-42 non-conference win Monday night.

The Lady Bulldogs were led in scoring by Alexus Grubbs who had 15, while Shyanne Tuelle followed up with 13.
