Carter County teams set to begin Region 1-A Tournament

The basketball season is really starting to wind down and Carter County teams are about to face some of their hardest opposition this season.
This Friday, the Region 1-A Tournament will commence and first up is the Cloudland Lady Highlanders.
Monday, the Lady ’Landers dropped a close District 1-A consolation game to University High, giving Cloudland (14-14) a fourth-place finish. The finish will have the Lady Highlanders travelling to Northview High School (24-4) on Friday. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. U-H (9-14) will travel to Cosby (15-11) Friday.
Tuesday night, during the championship for the D1A Boys tournament title, Hampton (24-6) and Cloudland (16-12) gave the crowd a show. However, in the end, the Bulldogs came out on top 50-48. With the first-place finish, Hampton will host Berean Christian (15-11) at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Cloudland will host Hancock County (9-14) at 7 p.m. on Saturday. The Highlanders will also recognize their seniors on Saturday.
The Unaka Rangers (10-20) finished in fourth after dropping their consolation with North Greene. Saturday, the Rangers will travel to Cosby High School, where they will face off with the Eagles (22-5) at 7 p.m.
