2 Central Elementary students capture honors in essay contest

Two Central Elementary School students recently captured honors in a regional essay contest where they had relate the story of a time in their life that required them to be brave.
Reaghan Curde and Tonya Phillips, both in the 6th grade at Central Elementary, captured first and second place respectively in the regional competition for the Tennessee Council of Insurance Professionals annual essay contest. The regional contest was sponsored by the Johnson City Insurance Professionals organization.
As the first place winner at the regional level, Curde will have her essay entered in the state competition.
On Friday, Cynthia Ayers of the Tennessee Council of Insurance Professionals presented Curde and Phillips with certificates for their achievement.
The essay contest was open to students in grades 1-8. The topic for this year’s essay contest was “Write about a time when you had to be brave. What did you do? How did if feel?”
Both Curde and Phillips are in Shari Pearman’s 6th grade language arts class at Central Elementary.
