The Sullivan North Golden Raiders were hoping to sneak up on the front-running Elizabethton Cyclones, but the bright, full moon cast a dark shadow upon the Raiders hopes.

The Cyclones built a 4-0 lead through the first two innings and closed the draw bridge in the fourth and fifth to deal the visitors from Kingsport a 11-1 defeat on a walk-off single by Bo Pless in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Leading 4-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth, the Cyclones sent six men across the plate to push that advantage to 10-0 by the end of the inning.

Big hits in the inning came from Jesse Carr, Drew Wetzel, Ethan Eggleston, and Brodie Adams to break the game apart.

North got a run in the top of the fifth after starting pitcher Gaven Rupe walked and worked his way to third where he would score on relief pitcher Corey Russell’s wild pitch making it 11-1.

Carr quickly got on base for the Cyclones in the bottom of the frame and took second on a wild pitch.

A bunt by Wetzel pushed Carr to third with Wetzel stealing second. Eggleston was intentionally walked to load the bases before Pless closed out the night with his single to left center.

Elizabethton now stands at 5-2 overall and 3-0 in the Three Rivers Conference.
