For over 75 years, Carter County Bank has been a community leader, providing economic opportunities and investing in its citizens. Last week, the bank demonstrated their ongoing commitment to improving the community’s quality of life through a generous donation to the Boys & Girls Club of Elizabethton/Carter County.
This contribution will be used to support the Club’s out-of-school programming which provides critical resources to help the youth of Carter County achieve academic success, healthy lifestyles and good character and citizenship.
Carter County Bank has a long tradition of supporting the Boys & Girls Club through financial support, participation in special events and volunteers. “Our community and its children are facing tough challenges, but the Boys & Girls Club is making a difference,” explained Andrew McKeehan, Market President for Carter County Bank. “We want to support their work and guarantee they have the ability to help every child in our county.”
Ginny Wright, Executive Director of The Boys & Girls Club, said, “We are incredibly grateful for Carter County Bank. They are providing resources, mentors and the chance for kids to achieve their full potential.” While an afterschool program in Tennessee costs an average of $78 per week, the local Boys & Girls Club charges only $10 in an effort to ensure every child has access to a quality afterschool program. The majority of families pay reduced fees- even from the $10 rate. Wright adds, “We never turn away a child based on inability to pay, but it is because of supporters like Carter County Bank that we are able to do that. They are ensuring every child has the opportunities they need and deserve.”
In 2015, the Club served 702 members, and membership is expected to significantly increase in 2016. For more information on the Boys & Girls Club or to see how you can become involved, call (423) 543-2946 or visit www.bgcecc.org.
