Investigators with the Elizabethton Police Department are working to solve a couple of connected theft cases from a local retail store and they are asking for the public’s help in identifying a pair of suspects.
The thefts occurred on consecutive days in December at the Elizabethton Walmart according to EPD Capt. Joy Shoun.
On December 22, the man and woman entered Walmart and concealed assorted merchandise in a shopping cart while inside the store.
“The cart was then positioned near a fire door located in the Garden Center,” Shoun said. “The female suspect leaves the store and drives the silver Toyota 4Runner, to the exit, where she then covers the vehicle’s license plate. The male loads the merchandise in the vehicle and they leave the parking lot.”
According to Shoun, the man and woman returned to the store the following day and stole additional merchandise.
“The male enters the store and in the same manner, and conceals additional items,” Shoun said. “The same female arrives in the same vehicle at the fire door, where the merchandise is placed in the vehicle.”
The combined estimated value of the merchandise stolen by the two suspects over the two separate days is approximately $900, Shoun said.
Images of both the suspects as well as the Toyota 4Runner were captured by Walmart’s security camera surveillance system. Investigators have released some of the images captured in hopes the public will be able to help identify the suspects either by their photographs or by the photograph of the silver SUV.
