Sheriff’s deputy struck by car at Central Elementary

A Carter County Sheriff’s Office deputy was struck and dragged by a vehicle at Central Elementary School.
Sheriff Office officials have not yet released the name of the female officer who was injured. Thr officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment by the Carter County Rescue Squad.
According to radio transmissions between the deputies and the Carter County 911 Communications Center, a female driver in the suspect vehicle fled the scene after striking the deputy. The injured deputy was able to identify the suspect and officers of the Sheriff’s Office along with officers of the EliAbethton Police Department are searching for the woman.

UPDATE: Carter County Sheriff’s Office officials have confirmed the woman who struck the female deputy at Central Elementary is now in custody and will face charges. The officer is currently receiving treatment at a local hospital and is expected to be released from care later today.
