District 1A Softball Tournament: Lady Rangers bounce North Greene from postseason

GREENEVILLE—An RBI single from Unaka’s Sydney Markland spelled the difference Monday at Legion Park as the Lady Rangers held on to top North Greene 3-2.
In the top of the seventh with the game tied at two, Markland smacked an RBI single to net Sarah Hardin for the go-ahead and winning run. In the bottom of the frame, the Lady Ranges played solid defense to keep the Lady Huskies off the bases.
With the win, the Lady Rangers will take on University High, which was upset by South Greene Monday, in an elimination game at 5 p.m.
In the top of the first, the Lady Rangers posted two runs, with Hardin hitting an RBI single to bring in Madison Pierce, before Katlyn Weaver smacked an RBI single herself to score Sarah Tipton.
The Lady Huskies tied things up in third inning with a 2-run homer from J.J. Crawford.
