More than 500 youth play in Carter County Little League teams each year, and they depend on community support to meet financial needs of the teams.

Carter County Little League gives 43 teams and 540 kids the opportunity to begin playing baseball and softball at a young age. Like other sports leagues in the area, the teams depend in part on community support, and this year, they are making it easy and tasty to help out your local Little Leaguers.

This Monday, 20 percent of purchases at Pizza Hut in Elizabethton on E. Elk Ave. will support the league from 5-8 p.m. Those ordering must be sure to mention they want that portion to be donated to Carter County Little League when they place their orders. This opportunity applies to dine-in, carry-out and delivery orders.

“This will help us provide equipment, pay league dues, maintain the field and cover the cost of field supplies,” said Matthew Roark, vice president of 7- and 8-year-old coach-pitch baseball. “It’s the first year we’ve gotten to do it so we’re hoping people will come support the league.”
