The descendants of Grover and Bessie Timbs Vines will have a family reunion/fundraiser for Chase Andrews (great-grandson of JC) at 1 p.m. at Pearce’s Chapel Freewill Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and drinks. Paper products will be provided. There will also be a donation jar to help with the expenses of Chase and his family as they travel to and from Philadelphia. For more information, call Susan Estep at 474-2218.
The Patton-Simmons Cemetery Decoration Day Service will be held at 11 a.m. The cemetery is located on Toll Branch Road. For more information, call Marlene Collins at 367-2930.
Watauga Valley Fife & Drum Corps — The Fife & Drum Corps performs at historical events, dedications and parades. This group is open to anyone ages 13 & up. Musical experience is welcome but not necessary; just come with a willingness to learn. Meet our volunteer coordinator John Large at the Sycamore Shoals Visitors Center. Lessons are free of charge, just call and let us know you’re coming!

Rhea Lodge No. 47, 210 Second Ave., Jonesborough, will host a Steak and Gravy Dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tickets will be $8 at the door. Children 12 and under will eat free (limit 2 per family).
The Walnut Mountain Cemetery Association will have its annual dinner. Former residents of the Walnut Mountain community, along with many of their descendants and friends, will gather at the cemetery at 1 p.m. for the covered dish dinner. Please bring enough food for your family plus a little for company. If you can’t make it to the dinner and would like to donate money for the upkeep and mowing of the cemetery, please mail your donation to Walnut Mountain Cemetery Association, C/O Sheila Morton, 931 Rittertown Road, Hampton, TN 37658.
Lakeview Cemetery, Inc. will have its annual meeting at 2 p.m. at the cemetery. Officers will be elected for the coming year. If you wish to help with upkeep of the cemetery, mail your contribution to Robert L. White, 159 Hickory Hollow Road, Elizabethton, TN 37643. All contributions are tax deductible. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. at the Whitehead Cemetery, Cable Hollow Road, Butler. Bro. Cody Montgomery will present the message. An offering will be received for cemetery maintenance.

The Carter County Democratic Women’s Club will meet at the Elizabethton Democratic Campaign Office, 429 East Elk Ave. The group will gather for pizza at 5:30 p.m. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. The business will include summer plans: activities at the office during Car Shows, voter registration, Blue Plum, the July picnic, and a multi-county gathering for First District Democrats. All are welcome to attend.

Alzheimers Tennessee Caregiver Support Group will meet at noon at Sycamore Springs Senior Living Center at 1504 W. Elk Ave. for caregivers of friends or relatives suffering from Alzheimers or another form of dementia. Attending the support group can help people to feel less isolated and to make connections with others facing similar challenges.
