When he saw an unmaintained garden space at Valley Forge Elementary School last Fall, Thomas Davis, a local financial advisor, decided something had to be done.
“When we were donating art supplies, we looked out the window and noticed the garden,” Davis said. “This is kind of part two of that project.”
After some community outreach, Davis located a young man in Boy Scout Troop 29 in search of an appropriate Eagle Scout project. Jordan Byrd took on the challenge, organizing the planting and mulching of the space with shrubs and flowering plants. He also preserved the flowers which had been planted by alumni of the school. Davis donated a statue to serve as a centerpiece for the garden for years to come.
“There were a lot of moving parts for this project, but I think it turned out really well,” Davis said.
On Saturday, a team including Byrd, Davis and Marx Garbe, Flade Nakoff, Mihal Nakoff , Jada Grindstaff, Will Hull and Isaiah Stenzel completed the much-needed beautification project.
