A Carter County man faces a felony charge after he allegedly solicited a minor for sexual activity.
On Wednesday, officers of the Carter County Sheriff’s Office arrested Clarence Mack Oaks, 40, of 737 Sugar Hollow Road, Elizabethton, on an indictment out of Criminal Court charging him with one count of solicitation of a minor.
The charge against Oaks stems from a case investigated by the Sheriff’s Office. The case was presented to a Carter County Grand Jury on May 4 and the Grand Jury issued the indictment against Oaks that same day.
The indictment alleges that in September 2015, Oaks solicited a 17 year old to “engage in conduct that, if completed, would constitute a violation by (Oaks) of aggravated statutory rape, pursuant to (state law), and/or sexual battery by an authority figure, pursuant to (state law), a class B felony.”
Oaks was booked into the Carter County Detention Center where he remains held on a $25,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Carter County Criminal Court on July 22.
