On Saturday, residents in the Stoney Creek community will get a chance to meet with their representatives on two local governing bodies at a special Town Hall Meeting.
The 1st District’s three representatives on the Carter County Commission — Dr. Robert Acuff, Willie Campbell and Buford Peters —will be joined by the District’s member on the Carter County Board of Education Craig Davis for a Town Hall meeting.
The event will take place on Saturday, July 30, at Unaka Elementary School beginning at 9 a.m.
The four representatives will discuss pending matters before the two governing bodies and will also take questions from citizens in attendance. Acuff said those in attendance can ask questions on a variety of matters such as the county’s budget, economic development and the status of the Carter County EMS and Rescue Squad Task Force. Acuff, who serves as chairman of the Task Force, said the group’s final report is nearing completion and should be presented to the public, the County Commission and the Elizabethton City Council sometime next month.
“We will be there to listen and answer questions,” Acuff said.
Acuff, Campbell and Peters began hosting Town Hall meetings for the 1st District last year and they hope to hold them at least on a quarterly basis to keep the residents of the district informed, Acuff said.
