Lady Cyclones volleyball falls to Sullivan South, 3-1

The Lady Cyclones played a tough match Thursday night against the Sullivan South Lady Rebels inside John Treadway Gym.

However, in the end,  the Lady Rebels were able to out pace Elizabethton 3-1 to pick up a big Three Rivers Conference win.

The match got off to a hot start as the Lady Cyclones played the Lady Rebels down to the wire in the first set. South held on to take set one, 30-28

“It was a highly competitive match,” Elizabethton head coach Leslee Bradley said. “We missed way too many serves, especially in set one, when we had them on the ropes.

“If we had been able to pull out that first set and put them behind in the match, it would have been interesting to see how both teams reacted,” Bradley added. “I was incredibly please with our defense.”

After dropping set two to South, 25-18, the Lady Cyclones turned things around with a 25-19 win in set three. The Lady Rebels closed the night with a 25-16 win in set four.

For Elizabethton, Sydney Goodsell recorded 20 digs, while Mary Beth Biggs had 17. Offensively, Madyson Smith recorded 12 kills.

The Lady Cyclones will return to the court on Monday as they host South Greene.
