At the 2015 memorial service, several chapters of the Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Children of the American Revolution brought wreaths to lay in honor of the Overmountain Men.

On Saturday join the Tennessee Society Sons of the American Revolution in honoring the memory of the Overmountain Men who marched from Sycamore Shoals to Kings Mountain, S.C., during the American Revolution.
Sycamore Shoals State Park will serve as the backdrop for the annual Gathering at Sycamore Shoals, which is a memorial service dedicated to honoring the early patriots who fought for the nation’s freedom.
The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 10 a.m. inside Fort Watauga at the park.
This year marks the 236th anniversary of the historic muster at Sycamore Shoals.
The memorial service will feature a wreath laying. During the ceremony, there will be a presentation on the story of the Overmountain Men as well as various tributes to the patriots who gathered here.
