The Betsy Band was all smiles after competing at Farragut High School on Saturday, Oct. 22.

The Elizabethton High School Betsy Band was busy over the weekend.
Competing against other large schools in the area, the Betsy Band was awarded “Grand Champions” during Farragut High School’s Admiral’s Cup Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 22, in Knoxville.
EHS was also awarded Division 5A-6A champions and first place for music, performance, overall effect and overall rating. For 5A, EHS won first place for percussion and overall. Drum Major Grace Roberts also won first place.
According to the band’s performance description, “Many find a road trip to be a perilous journey, and the Elizabethton High School Band has found this to be true for them, as well.  Listen as Drum Major Grace Roberts leads the band in their fall presentation, ‘Under Construction…the road that leads home.’ Watch as the band members traverse detours, construction delays, and multiple bumps in the road in their quest to reach their final destination. The road may be treacherous and filled with difficulties but the Betsy Band will always find happiness when they follow their heart and ‘the road that leads home!”’
The Betsy Band will compete in “The Hilltopper Invitational” at Science Hill on Saturday, Oct. 29, before heading to the Tennessee Division II State Marching Band Championship on Saturday, Nov. 5, in Murfreesboro.
