Sammons, located on West Elk Avenue, experienced long lines during their reopening day on Friday.

After hearing calls from all across the community, one local restaurant with over 60 years of service in the community reopened to a vast amount of traffic.
Sammons Restaurant, which previously closed its doors this year, reopened at its West Elk Avenue location on Friday, Oct. 28.
“We got inundated with so many calls following the closure,” Denise Sammons, Sammons Restaurants CEO, recently told the Elizabethton Star. “There were so many calls from people all across the United States. One story from (WJHL) was shared over 3,000 times. The support was incredible. We just kept getting call after call from people talking about the legacy it has in the community, what it meant to them, asking if we could even reopen for one day … we even had someone come in from Georgia offer to come in and help operate the business. It was incredible.”
