Police are investigating the theft of an item and documentation from the Elizabethton Carter County Animal Shelter.
On Wednesday, Carter County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Roger Brown responded to the Animal Shelter on a report of theft.
“Upon arrival I spoke with Ms. Susan Robinson who stated she worked for the Mayor and was Interim Director of the Animal Shelter,” Brown said. “She stated they had ordered a scale on Oct. 5, 2016, and it arrived on Oct. 7, 2016, and also went missing on Oct. 7, 2016.”
Robinson told the officer she was not present at the Animal Shelter when the scale arrived. In addition to the scale, Robinson reported that a “clip board with accounting information, medical documentation and other vital paper work” was also missing from the Animal Shelter’s office.
Brown said Robinson told him she did not know who had taken the scale, but she believes it might have been one of the volunteers at the shelter because only employees and volunteers have access to the Animal Shelter’s office.
