Thursday, Nov. 10
The Elizabethton Senior Citizens Center, 428 East G St., will host a veterans breakfast from 8 to 9 a.m. Veterans Day is a day to honor and say thank you to our veterans for their service. The free breakfast for all veterans will consist of gravy/biscuits, sausage, eggs, juice and coffee. Charge for non-veterans is $5. For more information, call 543-4362.
Friday, Nov. 11
The Butler Ruritan will have a free lunch for all veterans on Veterans Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The lunch will be held at the Butler Ruritan building at 291 Piercetown Road. The meal consists of pork BBQ, cole slaw, baked beans, dessert and a drink. The cost for guests attending will be $7.
Saturday, Nov. 12
Hampton Lodge No. 750 F&AM, 509 First Ave., Hampton, will have its annual Thanksgiving Dinner with all the trimmings from 4 to 7 p.m. Cost is a donation of $8 for adults and $4 for children. Carryouts will be available.
The Hampton High School Class of 1967 will have an informal social at 2 p.m. at the Harbor House restaurant on N. Roan Street in Johnson City. There will be yearbooks from 1950, 1949, 1946 and 1941 for display and review. If any questions, contact David Horton at 423-647-1740.
Sunday, Nov. 13
The Mann Family Reunion will be held from noon until 3 p.m. The descendants, family and friends of William Peter “Billy” and Caroline Keller Mann are invited to meet at the Beech Mountain Community Center, 60 Flat Springs Road in Avery County, N.C. Those attending are asked to bring their own drinks and a snack to share. For more information, call 768-2261.

Rocky Top Gun Permit School will offer a handgun carry permit school at 135 Keenburg Road, Elizabethton, starting at 8 a.m. Ken Potter, a veteran law enforcement officer, is the instructor for the class. Rocky Top is one of the first schools to offer permit training and has been teaching the program since 1997. Cost of the class is $55. You will need to bring your weapon and 50 rounds of ammo. TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) will meet at First Baptist Church, 212 East F St., Elizabethton. Weigh-in begins at 5:30-6:30 p.m. with the meeting starting at 6:45 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings. Elk Ave. for caregivers of friends or relatives suffering from Alzheimers or another form of dementia. Attending the support group can help people to feel less isolated and to make connections with others facing similar challenges. For more information, contact Regional Director Tracey Kendall at 423-330-4532.
