The annual lighting of the Roan Mountain Community Christmas Tree is just a week away.
For 31 years the community of Roan Mountain has gathered to usher in the holiday season with the lighting of the Community Christmas Tree. This year the event will be held on Monday, Nov. 21, at 6 p.m. in the Roan Mountain Community Park, located behind the Roan Mountain Post Office.
The event is being presented by the Roan Mountain Citizens Club and will feature live entertainment and light refreshments.
Among the groups performing at the Roan Mountain Community Christmas Tree Lighting are: the Cloudland High School Band, the Cloudland High School Chorus Group, Cloudland Elementary String Band, and Cloudland Elementary School’s singing group ‘Highnotes.’
And, of course, the man from the North Pole himself, Santa Claus will be on hand to meet and greet members of the community.
