Police officers served a search warrant on a city residence Wednesday morning and discovered an active drug operation with nearly 100 marijuana plants.
Around 9 a.m. on Monday, members of the Elizabethton Police Department’s Special Response Team (SRT) executed a search warrant at a residence located at 613 West E St. According to EPD Capt. Joy Shoun, police obtained the search warrant following an investigation by the EPD’s VICE Unit regarding illegal drug activity at the home.
“During a search of the residence, investigators located an active marijuana grow operation with 99 live marijuana plants,” Shoun said. “Officers also recovered other amounts of marijuana packaged in a manner consistent for resale, as well as assorted items of drug paraphernalia.”
Officers seized the drugs and equipment for evidence.
Shoun said charges in the case are pending at this time.
“We will release updated information regarding possible offenders and/or criminal charges when it is available,” she said.
