Police are searching for a Carter County inmate that walked off a work detail on Monday afternoon.
According to reports James E. Walton, 47, an inmate of the Carter County Detention Center, walked away from the work detail in Roan Mountain around 3 p.m. As of press time, officers were still searching for the escapee.
Walton was being housed in the detention center on a violation of probation charge.
