Nearly 20 students from the seventh- and eighth-grade classes at T.A. Dugger Junior High School were recently selected for the Upper Area ETSBOA Junior Clinic Band. Seventh-graders performed under the direction of Dave Wortman from Raleigh, N.C., and eighth-graders were conducted by Michelle Clupper of Farragut, Tenn.
“There were approximately 50 schools that participated in this event and the students were chosen through an audition process that required them to play prepared material in addition to performing a sight-reading selection,” Director Chris Lockhart said. “This is the highest honor that a middle school musician can obtain in band.”
Seventh-graders that performed include: Caitlin Darling, Mason Grindstaff, Jakeb Hardin, Luke Hale, Ethan Horton, Isaac Hurley, Conner Johnson, Holden Roaten and Elizabeth Thomas.
Eighth-graders that performed include: McClane Bernshausen, Audrey Holland, Matthew Hughes, Sydeny Jenkins, Brittany Kitchens, Lexi Lopez, Riley McKinney, Ethan Sparks, Kagan Tester and Matthew Walls.
