The Elizabethton Police Department has placed charges against a Kingsport man in connection with an armed robbery at a city pharmacy in January.
On Friday afternoon, the EPD announced they had filed a charge of aggravated robbery against Jeremy Ferguson, 22, of Kingsport, in connection with the robbery of CVS Pharmacy, located at 1100 W. Elk Ave., on Jan. 23.
EPD Capt. Joy Shoun said during the course of the investigation the department received an anonymous tip identifying Fergus as the robber.
“After additional investigation, probable cause was established, and a warrant was issued charging Ferguson with Aggravated Robbery,” Shoun said. “Ferguson is currently incarcerated in the Sullivan County Jail on other charges and a hold has been placed regarding the pending charges in our jurisdiction.”
The robbery at CVS Pharmacy happened shortly after 8 p.m. on Jan. 23. Employees told officers a man entered the store, approached the counter, and walked into the pharmacy area.
“Witnesses reported that the male subject then brandished a handgun and demanded medications from the pharmacy,” Shoun told the Elizabethton Star the day after the robbery. “The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of medication and then left the store.”
No employees or witnesses were injured during the robbery according to police.
