Elizabethton Police are currently investigating the discovery of a deceased person inside a vehicle at a local retail store on Saturday night.
Officers of the Elizabethton Police Department responded to Walmart around 9:30 p.m. Saturday regarding a welfare check for a female inside a vehicle parked at the store.
When officers arrived and checked the vehicle, they found the woman inside was deceased, according to EPD Capt. Joy Shoun.
“There is nothing to indicate there was any foul play, but we are handling it as a death investigation,” Shoun told the Elizabethton Star on Monday morning.
Investigators are not releasing the name of the woman and other specific details of the incident at this time until a positive identification can be made and the next of kin can be notified, Shoun said.
The investigation into the woman’s death is on-going, Shoun said, adding more information could be released at a later time pending the findings of the investigation.
