Carter County resident Martha Odom celebrated her 100th birthday on Friday, April 7. Born to Samuel and Caroline Murphy Birchfield, Martha grew up in North Carolina and Tennessee before marrying her husband, Jesse Odom. Martha has seven children (Dorothy, Ruby, Dallas, GB, Francis, Ray and Linda). Along with her children, she has 18 grandchildren, over 25 great grandchildren and over 20 great, great grandchildren. Martha’s favorite past time is quilting and she enjoys watching Little House on the Praire, The Waltons, CHIPS and Walter Texas Tanger. Her favorite Bible verses are John 3:16 and Psalm 23.
