EHS tennis tops Unicoi

The Elizabethton High School boys and girls tennis squads swept Unicoi Monday at EHS during a Three Rivers Conference meeting.
The Cyclones topped the Blue Devils 7-2. EHS’ Blaye Davis sped past Unicoi’s Trent Treadway, 6-0, in the boys’ singles No. 1 match. In the boys’ No. 2 slot, Elizabethton’s Garrett Barnett defeated Blue Devil Trey Hatcher 8-2. Elizabethton’s Adam Cornett, Jacob Lunsford, and Luke Carrier all had wins for the Cyclones in singles.
In the boys’ doubles, the teams of Davis and Lipford and Carrier and O’Quinn picked up wins.
The Lady Cyclones rolled past Unicoi 8-0. In the girls’ top singles match, Elizabethton’s Claudia Calpo defeated Unicoi’s Winter Honeycutt 6-0, while Lady Cyclone Eliana Rangel topped Blue Devil Abby Hensley 6-nil.
Also picking up victories for Elizabethton was Jordan Teague, Carol Sweeley, Abby Bryan, and Carmen Sproviero.
In girls’ doubles, the EHS team of Calp and Rangel won the top match 8-4. Teague and Sweeney won the No. 2 doubles 6-0.
The Cyclones will host Sullivan South today in a conference match.
