Lady Rangers top Cloudland, 6-1

Monday, the Lady Rangers made the short trip to Roan Mountain where they pushed past Cloudland 6-1 in Watauga Valley Conference action.
After jumping ahead 4-1 after the first, the Lady Rangers posted two late-game runs en route to their win. Cloudland would find the board in the seventh with Johanna Johnson scoring the run.
At the plate for the Lady Rangers, Madison Ensor went 2-of-3 with two runs scored, while her teammate Madison Pierce also scored two runs. Unaka’s Katlyn Weaver picked up a hit with 2 RBIs, while Lady Ranger Sarah Hardin had a hit, a RBI, and a run scored.
For Cloudland, both Kenzie Birchfield and Johnson had hits.
From the circle, Unaka’s Sarah Hardin and Corie Scheuttler both put in work as Hardin pitched the first four innings and Scheuttler cleaned up the final three. Both slingers would only give up one hit a piece while striking out four batters apiece.
