The Elizabethton Lady Cyclones are in great position heading into the final week of the Three Rivers Conference season as Coach Ken Hardin’s team has a second-seed in hand barring any final game melt-downs.
On Wednesday, the Lady Cyclones turned into road warriors as Elizabethton traveled to Kingsport to take on Sullivan North at 4:30 pm and then returned back to Happy Valley to finish the evening taking on the Happy Valley Lady Warriors.
In the day’s first game, freshman Regan Armstrong took the pitching circle to go four strong innings allowing only three hits to the Lady Raiders in leading the Lady Cyclones to a 13-1 victory.
Kellie Cunningham came in to close the game out in the fifth inning.
Elizabethton then took on conference foe Happy Valley on a day that the Lady Warriors were hoping to make special for their five seniors as Senior Day was celebrated on Lady Warrior Diamond.
The Lady Cyclones picked up where they left off as they brought out their smoking bats to blast their way to a 20-5 win.
Happy Valley tried staying with the Lady Cyclones in the first inning as Coach Bonnie Peters team was using short ball to take a 2-1 lead after one inning.
From that point, it was all Elizabethton as the Lady Cyclones received big hits from top to bottom of the lineup including a pair of doubles from left fielder Kira Dillard and a two-run dinger by Jessie Cunningham that left no doubt when leaving the bat.
Maci West, Lauren Brickey, Haley Fair, Abbi McKinney, Allison Riddle and Macie Herrmann also had a big day at the plate for the Lady Cyclones.
Brickey picked up the win from the pitching circle with Cunningham working a pair of innings to finish the game up.
Kaitlyn Roberts used her speed and short ball to collect a couple of hits in the game for the Lady Warriors. Walters State signee Emily Whitaker also had a solid senior day to pace Happy Valley.
