Saturday, May 20

Hampton Lodge No. 750, 509 First Ave., Hampton, will have a Bean Supper from 4 to 6 p.m. The menu will include soup beans, fried potatoes, cole slaw, dessert, and drink. Cost is a $5 donation.

A Country Breakfast will be held from 7 to 10 a.m. at Fairview United Methodist Church. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy good food and great fellowship. The breakfasts, which are held every third Saturday of each month, consist of bacon, fresh ground sausage, tenderloin, eggs, pancakes, gravy and biscuits, cinnamon apples and more. Cost is by donation. The church is located at 878 Highway 81N, about five miles from downtown Jonesborough.

23rd Annual Siege at Fort Watauga from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park. It is the summer of 1776 and the Watauga settlement is at war. Join us as 200 colonial and Native reenactors present this dramatic retelling of the Cherokee attack brought on the settlers of the Watauga valley. Visit the living history camps, shop with period vendors, and witness battle re-enactments both days. Hear the rattle of muskets, smell the campfire smoke and see history come to life at the Siege of Fort Watauga. Contact the park for a detailed schedule.

Watauga Valley Fife and Drums from 10 a.m. until noon. The Fife & Drum Corps performs at historical events, dedications and parades. This group is open to anyone ages 13 & up. Musical experience is welcome but not necessary; just come with a willingness to learn. Meet our volunteer coordinator John Large at the Sycamore Shoals Visitors Center. Lessons are free of charge, just call and let us know you’re coming!

Nicotine Anonymous, a 12-Step Recovery Program of Mutual Support for those who want to stop smoking or live free of nicotine in any form, will meet at 7 p.m. at the Carter County Drug Prevention Coalition Youth Opportunity Center, 546 East Elk Ave., Elizabethton. There are no dues or fees. You only need to bring a desire to stop using nicotine. Contact Thad at 423-306-3866 for more information.

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) will meet at First Baptist Church, 212 East F St., Elizabethton. Weigh-in begins at 5:30-6:30 p.m. with the meeting starting at 6:45 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings. Old Time Music Jam – Led by Art Lang from 1:30-4 p.m. at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park. Enjoy the rich musical traditions of our region each month. Old time musicians of all levels are welcome. Don’t play an instrument? Come on over, kick back, and enjoy the tunes!

English Country Dancing with Bob Thompson from 1-5 p.m. Guest dance instructor Bob Thompson will lead the group in English country dancing focusing on 4 primary dance routines from the period. Light refreshments will be served. Cost: $7 at the door. $6 for members of Friends of Sycamore Shoals. The location for this event is to be announced.
