Search underway for new local United Way Community Impact Coordinator

A search is underway for the next Community Impact Coordinator of the United Way of Elizabethton/Carter County.

Members of the UWECC Board of Directors have finalized criteria that will be used to evaluate applicants for the position.

The position was previously called Director but the title was updated to Community Impact Coordinator with the hiring of Josh McKinney last year. McKinney tendered his resignation to the Board two weeks ago. His last day in the post will be June 1.

According to the job description, “the Community Impact Coordinator reports to the Board of Directors and directs the overall operation of the United Way of Elizabethton/Carter County, engaging in planning, allocation, and fundraising. This position will focus on community impact areas and initiatives set forth by the community need. The position will be responsible for carrying out the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and decisions formulated in conjunction with the Board of Directors.”

Prospective applicants should have a knowledge of the Carter County area, strong communication/marketing skills, the ability to recruit and manage volunteers, and be able to work with diverse sectors of the community, according to the job posting. The position also requires skills in multi-tasking, fundraising, and working in a fast-paced environment.

Under education and experience requirements, the job posting notes that two or more years of public relations and/or nonprofit administration experience is preferred, as is a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
