Twins top Burlington, 9-3

Behind a big second inning and three homeruns, the Elizabethton Twins defeated the Royals 9-3 to open the teams’ three-game series at Burlington.
After going 1-0 in the first inning, the Twins posted five runs in the top of the second. The inning saw Ariel Montesino hit a two-RBI to net Mark Contresas and Jordan Gore. Twins’ T.J. Dixon scored on a SAC fly before Twins Brent Rooker blasted a two-run homer pushing Elizabethton out to a 5-0.
Burlington scored runs in the fourth and sixth innings before the Twins scored two runs in the top of the seventh with Twins’ Jose Miranda opening the inning with his fourth homer of the season. Rooker scored the second run when he came home on a single from Contreras.
In the eighth, the Twins recorded the final run of the game with a homer from Carson Crites.
At the plate, the Twins recorded nine hits with Contreras and Montesino each recording two hits.
At the mound, Twins Moises Gomez picked up the win as he tossed five innings with four strikeouts with ten hits and two runs against him. Elizabethton’s Rickey Ramirez threw the final three innings as he picked save.
Tonight the Twins will continue their series with Burlington.
