Ron Scalf will be at local library Saturday morning for book signing

Ron Scalf, former Elizabethton newspaperman and now author of a new children’s book, will be at the Elizabethton/Carter County Public Library Saturday morning for a book signing.

Scalf, who now lives in Savannah, Ga., where he is Member Services and Marketing Manager for the Savannah Area Tourism Leadership Council, is the author of “The Adventures of Max & Matilda,” which is now available for purchase on Amazon, Kindle, and Barnes & Noble.

Scalf’s new book is the story of two talking dogs, who must save their beloved friend and famous neighbor, Lucy the Cat. Dastardly Dan has other ideas. From Knoxville, Tn., to Las Vegas, Nev., the plot thickens along the way.

Ron, who is owner of a 13-year-old Maltese, Snoopy, is donating $5 from each book sold to the Coastal Animal Rescue Shelter in Savannah, Ga., where he serves as a volunteer. Max, one of the dogs featured in the book, is modeled after Ron’s Snoopy.

Scalf is also author of “Bristol Motor Speedway, Racin’ The Way It Was” subtitled “My 10 Years at the World’s Fastest Half Mile NASCAR Track.”

Scalf was formerly with the Bristol Motor Speedway for 10 years and with the World Boxing Federation.

He will be at the local library from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, and will have copies of his book with him.
