Things to do this weekend….

There are several events on tap this weekend, including the outdoor drama at Sycamore Shoals State Park and Saturday evening concerts at the Covered Bridge Park in Elizabethton and at the Roan Mountain State Park. In addition to these events, there is adventure to be found outside hiking, swimming, fishing, boating, and even taking a walk or bike ride on the Tweetsie Trail. Take advantage of the weekend by taking in a concert or any of the other events mentioned in the listings that follow.

• FREE OUTDOOR CONCERT this evening at Founders Park, 225 Commerce St., Johnson City. The concert from 6 to 8:30 p.m. will feature Chalwa.

• “LIBERTY! THE SAGA OF SYCAMORE SHOALS,” Tennessee’s official outdoor drama, will be presented this evening and Saturday at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Theater, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

• ROAN MOUNTAIN FARMERS MARKET Satruday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Roan Mountain Community Park.

• CLASSIC CAR CRUISE-IN in downtown Elizabethton Saturday, beginning at 5 p.m.

• COVERED BRIDGE JAM Saturday in the Covered Bridge Park, beginning at 7 p.m. Featured will be the Hunter First Baptist Praise Band.

• SATURDAY IN THE PARK at Johnson City Memorial Park Community Center. A free family event featuring loads of outdoor fun with old-fashioned games, inflatables, food, music and entertainment.

• THOMPSON METAL MONSTER TRUCK MADNESS Saturday at 5 p.m. at Bristol Motor Speedway.

• EAST TENN. ROW-A-THON from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Crossfit East 10, Johnson City. The row will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and all proceeds will benefit Area 3 Special Olympics (Carter, Washington, Johnson, and Unicoi counties.) The goal is to fill rowers with teams of up to 10 people each. Each team is encouraged to have an athlete with an intellectual, developmental, or physical disability as a member of the team. Cost is $30.

• ELIZABETHTON TWINS will play at Burlington tonight, and in Greeneville Saturday and Sunday. Game time tonight is 7 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

• REEL STEEL will perform at Roan Mountain State Park Saturday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. These local Roan Mountain boys will have you stomping your feet and grinnin’ at their pickin’. Reel Steel plays traditional bluegrass and mountain music with a youthful enthusiasm that is infectious. Concert will be in park amphitheater and is free.

• FLINT KNAPPING WITH BOB ESTEP at Miller Homestead at Roan Mountain State Park from 12 noon to 2 p.m. Estep will demonstrate this age-old tradition as well as exhibit and discuss other interesting Native American traditions and artifacts.

• JIGGY RAY’S PIZZERIA in downtown Elizabethton will feature Hope Griffin and her music this evening from 7 to 11 p.m. Downtown Country will perform Saturday at 7 p.m.
